Uig wellness afternoon
23rd August 2024 at the Bhaltos Community Trust Office
Drop-in anytime between 1pm and 3pm

LW Acupuncture held its first wellness afternoon in June where people were invited along for tea/coffee, cake/biscuits and, if they fancied trying it, some acupuncture. The NHS recommends acupuncture for chronic pain, headaches and migraine but there has been extensive research into other conditions as well, and it has been shown to be very effective for boosting people’s mental health.
All of June’s attendees opted for the NADA protocol which involves the insertion of five very tiny needles into each ear to bring about a sense of calm and letting go. It was fabulous to see the relaxation spread around the room as the needles did their thing! (There are non-needle techniques on offer for those that aren’t sure about needles). If you fancy coming along then please do so. If you would like further information then feel free to give Lynne a call/message on 07734 052385. There is no charge but donations are appreciated.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a quiet and contemplative practice that incorporates principles of traditional Chinese medicine with poses (asanas). All poses are floor-based (this means lying or sitting down) and are held for longer periods, between 3-5 minutes or longer.
Yin yoga helps stretching and lengthening beyond the muscles into tissues, such as our connective tissue (fascia). It improves flexibility, boosts circulation and reduces stress levels that will help you find deep relaxation and sleep at the end of your day.
What is auricular acupuncture?
Auricular acupuncture dates back to approx. 427BC and is a technique that uses points on the ear to bring about changes
in the body.

In this session we will be using the NADA protocol which involves the placement of up to five small, sterilised, disposable needles into the following points on the ear:

Sympathetic - to calm,
Shen Men - to reduce anxiety,
Kidney - to calm fear,
Liver - for detox,
Lung - for letting go.
The NADA protocol has been proven to help:

Addiction and substance misuse

Post-traumatic stress syndrome
Mental health

Anxiety management and panic disorder

Smoking cessation

Weight loss

The immune system
